Install Microsoft Equation Editor

If you find that you don't have "Microsoft Equation 3.0" as an option in your list of objects, then you don't have the equation editor component installed. The following instructions are for adding the equation editor on Windows 2000 or XP, and for Office 2002 or 2003.

  1. Open the Control Panel ("Start > Settings > Control Panel" on Windows 2000, or "Start > Control Panel" on Windows XP.

  2. Double-click "Add or Remove Programs".

  3. Scroll down to the entry for "Microsoft Office"

  4. Click "Change", which will launch the installer.

  5. Select "Add or Remove Features" and then click "Next"

  6. If needed, on the next dialog window select "Choose advanced customization of applications" and then click "Next"

  7. Scroll through the list of options and look for "Office Tools". Click the "plus" sign to the left of the category to expand the list.

  8. Click on the button for "Equation Editor" and select "Run from my Computer."

  9. Click "Update" to finish the installation of the Equation Editor.

You will need to have your Office installation CD available, and you'll need administrative rights to your computer. If all installation on your computer is handled by tech support, you'll have to request that they have someone update your installation of Microsoft Office.
